If there is one thing that shouldn’t miss during Christmas is a good meal. As kids, we would get so excited about Christmas day, specifically because we knew we were going to enjoy meals and desserts we don’t get to eat on a normal day.

As part of the festive tradition, it’s great to prepare a tasty meal because it symbolizes love and togetherness in the family.

You put your differences aside and bond over a scrumptious feast.

With all the planning, shopping and travel, December can get super busy and you probably want to cook something that’s not so complicated.

The last thing you want to be doing when your loved ones are together is spend hours tucked away in the kitchen. To ensure that doesn’t happen, here are some simple meal ideas on what to make:

Stuffed chicken breast

Adding chicken to the menu during Christmas is a great way of inspiring the holiday cheer. This year, you should try making a tasty and healthy stuffed chicken breast.

You will need very simple ingredients including large chicken breasts, salt and seasoning, chopped spinach, cheese and garlic.

The next step is cut slits into the chicken without tearing all the way though, mix the other ingredients together into a paste and pour the filling into the chicken pockets before securing the edges with toothpicks.

Fry both sides of the chicken until they look golden brown then bake for 15 minutes.

Sweet honey pork

If you’re a fan of pork you will love this recipe. It will take about 20 minutes and you will need your pork, pure honey, onions and seasoning of your choice.

First step is to fry the pork until it is brown. On a separate pan, fry the onions on low heat and add the honey and seasoning mixture.

Lastly, add the fried pork into the mixture and let it cook for a couple more minutes until the pork is well cooked.

Roasted vegetables

Roasted veggies will be your ultimate Christmas meal if you’re on a diet and still want to indulge in some good food.

You can experiment with different vegetables and some great options you can look into include carrots, broccoli, red onions, mushrooms, butternut and red bell peppers.

Chop the ingredients into a baking pan, pour some olive oil and balsamic vinegar then season with salt, black pepper and thyme. Toss to evenly coat the vegetables then bake for about 15 minutes.

Once done, you are free to enjoy this with chicken or any other meal that blends well with the flavors.

Christmas lasagna

Making lasagna is easier than you think. You will need some lasagna sheets, minced beef, cheese, seasoning, wheat flour, milk and nutmeg spice.

Fry the minced beef over medium heat as you stir, then add some salt and seasoning. Let the mixture simmer on low heat for even up to half an hour.

While it simmers, prepare béchamel sauce by simmering a mixture of wheat flour, milk and a pinch of nutmeg spice until it thickens. Boil some lasagna sheets before assembling all the ingredients in a baking pan then cover with some foil and bake for about 30 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for 10 more minutes and it’s all done.

Baked fillet

Another simple holiday meal you can make is seasoned fillet. You need some fillet, salt and seasoning, olive oil and lemon for a zingy twist.

Simply season the fillet with the spices and sprinkle some lemon juice and olive oil. Wrap the fish in foil and bake for 20 minutes.

Once done, remove the foil and let the fish bake for 10 more minutes.

This can be combined with some mashed potatoes and tartar sauce.
