Yet another dating site has commissioned yet another survey to give us some valuable insights into the world of dating. And guess what, people don't like cheesy chat up lines. Shocking.

A surprisingly slim majority, 52 per cent, would refuse to date someone who used one of these lines. But a depressing 22 per cent said they have attempted to woo a lover using a dismal cliche.

What's not clear from this ever-so-scientific study is how many people have actually been exposed to such lines. The results are that people don't like them, but there's no evidence that anyone is actually using these specific lines.

Other shocking results returned by the survey include the staggering insight that people like humour in a potential date, with 61 per cent saying that it would help them fall in love.

Only 51 per cent of the 2000 respondents thought that good conversation was important when trying to turn physical attraction into something long term. These are the people who you see playing with phones over dinner dates.
