Fashion blogger Catherine Kariuki of the Fashionable Step Mum blog struggled with weight fluctuation earlier on in her marriage as she has candidly mentioned on social media.

The stylish lady who has managed to maintain a desirable body through the time she joined the blogosphere, made it known that she was not always as fit as she now looks.

In a post she shared earlier on this year she said, “Whenever I share videos of me working out and striving to eat healthy, most of you call it ‘goals’. And indeed they are.

“When I weighed 96kgs and was fed up, I wrote down my body goals and the plan I was going to follow to achieve the body I wanted.”

This sparked many questions where her followers wanted to know how she shed it all.

As a tell it all to her inquisitive followers, the blogger shared her journey on how she lost 36 kilograms after being diagnosed with Hiatal hernia.

This is a condition where the stomach bulges up into the chest through an opening causing a lot of discomfort which also causes coughing and throwing up.

She explained how before meeting Mike (her husband) she used to be of normal weight of around 60kgs up until she introduced an implant (form of birth control) which she feels could have been the reason for her weight spiking from 61 to 73kgs.

“At that time I was also going through a lot of stress, getting to meet the kids and forming a new family, I found myself eating a lot. I moved from 73 to 75 then 80kgs.  One day I woke up and I was 94 kilos!!” she reminisced.

“I chose to do a mini-gastric bypass procedure where the doctor would fix the hernia and also do the surgery. For me, it was something I decided to do so that I could fast-track my weight loss journey.

“It is not a guarantee that you will maintain the weight. The success depends on if you are going to follow a strict regime including exercising and watching portions,” she said.
