New Kilifi County football champions Mjanaheri Secondary School have sent a stern warning to their opponents ahead of the Coast Region Secondary Schools games that begin on Friday in Mombasa.

Mjanaheri football coach Jeff Nyamumbo is confident of leading the team to new dawn when they make their debut and attempt to win their maiden regional gong.

"Underrate us at your own peril," warned the coach as he remained confident of pulling upsets at the two-day games to be held at Shanzu Teachers Training College and Shimo la Tewa High School.

"My boys have been actively participating in the Kilifi county leagues with some featuring at the national division two league and they feel equally ready for the task."

"No one should underrate us because we are minnows by the virtue of being unknown to many teams. We have trained well, played good football and we are confident and ready for the assignment ahead of us."

Mjanaheri will open their title push against Kenyatta Mwatate of Taita Taveta in Group A which also has former champions of Mombasa County Tononoka and Mwavumbo of Kwale.

In Group B, Mombasa current champions Serani, Kwale's Kinondo, Mororo of Tana River and Lamu's Kizingitini will square it out for the last four slots.

Mjanaheri is a mixed sub-county school that was founded 10 years ago, but has some talented boys who are focused to showcase their skills and probably get a nod from some football clubs scouts who will be in Mombasa to watch the games.

At the county level, Mjanaheri started the games with a 4-0 loss to Lushangonyi before they bounced back to beat Vipingo 1-0 and sail to the quarter-finals, where they hit Rabai 2-1 to qualify for the semi-finals.

They maintained their winning streak as they edged out St George's 1-0 to land into the final where they hit Katana Ngala School 4-0 to qualify for the regional games.
