Before I came across this oil, I had heard little about it. It is extracted from the chia seed, usually by cold press, which retains majority of its nutrients. Chia seed oil is the most abundant source of the Omega-3 fatty acid.
Cooking: With a high heat tolerance of up to 200 degrees C/ 400 degrees F/Gas Mark 6, this oil is an excellent choice for healthy cooking.
Try it out for light sautéing, lightly drizzle it on salads or use it to make salad dressing or pasta. You can also use it with a little cinnamon on toast.
Chia seeds provide fibre, protein, minerals, Omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants. It is also rich in minerals, such as calcium, magnesium and phosphorus that help in bone development.
Chia seed oil is available online and sold in shops that sell health related products.
