Moms know the struggle to cut the baby fat

Parenting

What 3 things are you proud of about your personality??

Sometimes I am tempted to pray and fast just to thank God for laying my fat with no much struggle after delivery. The struggle I have seen my fellow lovely women going through to cut off baby weight is out of this world. Personally, I really wouldn’t think I would have hacked it had the fat not stayed put. I would simply have just let things be.

For instance, I saw my sister start to work out barely a month after delivery. She was on a diet while still breastfeeding! You know the struggle is real when an exclusively breastfeeding mother embarks on a journey to lose weight, and dieting while at it. You can bare me witness if you have ever breastfed that it goes hand in hand with thorough feeding. You basically feed on anything and everything anywhere as long as you are feeding. The hunger that comes with breastfeeding is comparable to none, so when you see a breastfeeding mother on a strict diet to cut weight, know that things are thick.

My sister started by waking up at dawn to dance Zhumba even after having almost  sleepless nights trying to calm baby whose lungs were too powerful to stay idle! Who wakes up at dawn to dance when she has barely had any sleep through the night? This alone shows how serious some women are to get their sexy back. When I was still exclusively breastfeeding, dawns were by best hours to pull my duvet over my head and sleep because that was almost the same time my baby did the same after screaming her lungs out through the night. By then, I still had some baby fat and I did not even think for a second about exercising or going on a diet to lose it.

Then comes the hardest part, saying goodbye to junk food. I mean, I am talking about Ice-cream, Pizza, fries, carbonated drinks and the likes; the exact things that put a smile on a woman’s face. I once visited this same sister who not only was struggling with baby weight but also had a four year old in the house who survived on junk. Surprisingly, my sister was disciplined enough to buy her young one junk but avoid it at the same time. Who buys junk and doesn’t salivate for it? Weight issues are weighty indeed and need serious discipline. You don’t just wake up one morning and decide to lose weight, no; it needs serious meditation and intrapersonal communication.

You have to keep in mind that almost all the foods that supposedly add weight are the yummy ones. Things like spinach juice are the recommended drinks for someone working on cutting their weight. I once tried sipping spinach juice and since then, I give total respect to those who live by it. I salute all mothers who have mastered the art of buying junk for their children and are disciplined enough not to even have a bite. A round of applause to all the mothers on a strict diet who still have to cook for their families and serve the very foods they are avoiding. I will not forget to bow down for all those mothers who have to balance between the gym, the kitchen, their young ones and the judgemental public.

It’s true, women make the world go round and mothers are just a special gift from above.
