This simple trick will make your reheated microwave dinners taste a lot better

Food

Another one to add to the list of things we've been doing wrong all this time...

Everyone can use a microwave, right? What can possibly go wrong?

Being able to quickly reheat last night's tea for another meal is a lifesaver for the tired, lazy and the simply organised and well prepared.

But apparently there is a simple trick to make it even easier - and quicker.

And it also fixes the annoying problem of having half your plate overcooked and the other lukewarm, so it can be a lot tastier.

Excellent news.

All you have to do is make a small hole in the middle of your meal.

Yes, it's really that simple. And it means you don't have to keep stopping and stirring.

It makes a big difference because radiation in microwaves doesn't travel very far, so struggle to get to the densest part of your meal which is normally right in the middle.

You're welcome!

And if you're a fan of mashed potato there's probably something else you've been doing wrong.

Apparently we've all been making a crucial mistake - and it's all to do with the way we cook the potatoes.

The method the majority of us practise is to boil the potatoes , drain them and then add butter/milk/cheese before mashing it all together.

But instead of boiling our spuds in water and adding ingredients to make it creamy, Food Network chef Tyler Florence recommends we cook them in the cream, milk and butter.

Tyler told Popsugar : "Potatoes have a really delicate, beautiful minerality to their flavour profile, and when you cook potatoes in water and you pour that water down the drain, you've extracted all the flavour of the potato.
