The National Police Service Commission has named and posted new county police commanders in a mini reshuffle.
Most of those affected were recently reinstated to police service after passing their fresh vetting exercise.
The changes were announced by deputy inspector general of police Grace Kaindi.
The newly posted county commanders include Tito Kilonzi (Mombasa), Sharif Abdala (Elgeyo Marakwet), Joseph Limo (Kisumu), Nelson Njiri (Kajiado) and Kalicha Roba (Embu).
Patrick Mwakio was posted to Nairobi as the deputy County commander to replace Limo while John Koki was taken to Nyeri as regional head of personnel.
The commission elevated Robert Kitur to be the Coast regional head of police. Willy Lugusa remains the Nyanza regional head of police.
Senior Administration police officer Mr Eusebius Laibuta who was among those vetted and cleared was posted to Emali AP College. Those of CID are yet to be announced.
Most of the affected areas have been experiencing a relatively high rate of crime.
Officials said more changes and postings are expected in the service to address many policing gaps that have been occasioned by understaffing.
Again, results of many of the recently vetted officers of the ranks of Senior Superintendent and Superintendent are expected in September which will prompt changes.
Vetting is mandatory for all officers before they are promoted to the next rank, confirmed or posted.
The vetting process is being conducted pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution Article 246 and National Police Service Act (2011) Section 7(2) and (3) which stipulate that members of the National Police Service shall undergo vetting to assess their suitability and competence.
