Relationships
How you feel about your body plays a key role in getting you aroused (Image: Shutterstock)

It is said approximately one in ten women feel self-conscious about their body image when it comes to bedroom matters.

Whether plus size or slender, most women dread the thought of taking charge of their bodies and standing confidently before their partners and this situation gets worse after childbirth.

A lot of women find it difficult to bounce back to sexiness with all the baby weight that takes months if not years to shed off.

As a result, most will lose interesting in any sexual interactions and arousal and this ultimately affects their relationships with their spouses and partners.

As inconsequential as it may sound, how you feel about yourself plays a key role during intimacy and even how you present yourself to the world generally.

So instead of putting on those baggy clothes and having sex with the lights out, how about you regain your confidence back with the following tips:

Find the root cause of the problem

Body image is an issue for many women and it usually just doesn’t happen overnight. Self-esteem issues usually take time to get rooted and get in your head.

Once you can point out the thing making you uneasy the most, you can start finding ways of improving your self-image and accepting the things you cannot change.

Work with your best features

If you don’t love some parts of your body, you don’t have to struggle showing them off. Instead work towards enhancing your best features.

Before taking off your clothes, at least ensure you look hot in them. Remember, when your best assets are working for you, your sex drive will be on overdrive.

Talk to your partner

It’s only right to talk to your partner about how you feel, chances are they don’t even care how your body looks in the first place.

Looping them in will also make it easier for the both of you to find ways around intimacy without hurting each other’s feelings.

Embrace who you are

The biggest challenge most of us face is living in the façade that we could be someone else. And as you obsess over the body you wish you had, you are missing out in enjoying your current life and relationship.

Once you come to terms with your body and love it, getting intimate will be so much easier and fun.

Get inspiration from people like you

Currently the internet is rife with women of all body types and sizes flaunting their bodies without shame. Some of them use their pages to spread the message of body positivity.

Instead of wallowing in self-pity and closing yourself to the world, explore and draw inspiration from women who are confident in their bodies and how they handle intimacy.
