Healthy Eating

The traditional boundaries between meals and snacks are becoming increasingly blurred. Because of our busy lives, more people are eating on the go or grabbing a hurried snack instead of sitting down to eat a full meal. Snackification has become the new normal with some people foregoing meals altogether in favour of grab-and-go snacks like cereal bars and pastries.

While grazing throughout the day is a good way of keeping your sugar levels up, it is important to make healthy choices. Highly processed convenient foods tend to be high in sugars, saturated fats and calories. Instead, opt for healthy options or even split main meals into smaller portions and eating those throughout the day.

Examples of healthy snacks are fruit and yoghurt, omelettes or boiled eggs, green or fruit smoothies, pre-cut veggies and dried fruit and nut mixes. Sandwiches on whole grain bread also make a good snack.
