When is the last time you cleaned your makeup brush? Cleaning makeup brushes should be a regular part of your beauty routine. However many of us forget this important step, so we clean them when they look visibly dirty. Brushes can harbor bacteria that may result in skin problems. It becomes counter-productive applying makeup because each time we do so with these brushes, we are introducing bacteria onto our skin, which results in breakouts, rashes and rough skin. Since the goal is beautiful healthy skin, using clean brushes is nearly as important as washing your face. Also, clean makeup brushes last longer and perform better. The frequency of cleaning depends on how often you use them. If you rarely use makeup, then you can get by with once or twice a month. If you use your makeup daily, wash them once or twice a week.
You may use an alcohol- based solution or just soap and water to clean your brushes. Alcohol acts as a natural disinfectant while the soap cleans. Therefore the best cleanser would be one that has both soap and alcohol. The alcohol also speeds up drying time, a trick used by professional makeup artists when they have several models at a shoot and want to re-use the brushes.
Water-based products do not have a long shelf life, therefore, the Witamin E and alcohol acts as a mild preservative. This cleanser should last up to a month.

Step 6 - Rinse
Rinse under warm Running water, with the bristles facing downwards.
Step 7 - Squeeze
Gently squeeze the bristles to remove excess water
Step 8 - Dry
Lay the brushes flat on a clean towel and allow to air dry You can use a paper towel and lay them near the window for faster drying time. Store them upright in a container like the way artists store their paintbrushes. When traveling, keep your brushes in their own compartment.
