Do you know what successful people have in common? Well, it goes beyond lots of money and influence.

They have learnt how to physically, mentally, emotionally and psychologically optimize themselves to become the best they can be.

As any wise person will tell you, success does not end with money.

It is about nourishing your mind, body and soul to achieve a healthier, happier and longer life.

Your body is all you have and you must take good care of it for it to take care of you.

If you find yourself feeling sluggish, with little energy and you can’t think clearly, here is what you can do to improve on your life.

i.Eat good food

You have heard this a million times and yes, it’s true. Healthy food is the crux for wellbeing.

Eating a balanced diet made up of fruits, vegetables, lean protein, whole grains and low-fat diary is exactly what you need to have energy and for your body to function at its best.

You must fuel your body with natural whole foods and steer off unhealthy processed foods that are the leading cause of many lifestyle diseases.

At the end of the day, you are what you eat.

ii.Drink water

Are you drinking enough water? I will take a guess and say no.

Water is essential for removing waste, carrying nutrients and oxygen around your body and for other important functions.

You cannot overlook drinking the recommended amount of water per day for your body weight and size. And the more active you are the more water you must replenish. Not forgetting the amount you lose during bowel movements, urination and perspiration.

When your body is well hydrated your urine should be very light in color and your lips and mouth should not be dry.

iii.Sleep

Getting six to eight hours of sleep is vital. No matter how hard you want to achieve your goals and beat those deadlines, your body needs to rest so it can repair itself.

You don’t expect your body to do anything when the battery is not fully charged now do you? Have a regular sleeping pattern and get rid of any sleep disruptors.

Prioritizing sleep is one of the best selfcare strategies you can incorporate in your life so you can be more productive and motivated.

iv.Turn off the TV

You cannot avoid news altogether but what you can do is limit what you watch and listen to. Unless it is entertaining, uplifting or educational, you want to cut down on bad news.

Negative news that has become the norm in this day and age can affect your health and outlook towards life. You may begin to feel as if there is no hope and everything out there is bad when this couldn’t be further from the truth.

Recognize the stressors in your life and avoid them. This could be social media, news apps etc that bombard you with news you really don’t need to hear.

This, however, does not mean burying your head in the sand and living like everything is perfect. Pick your struggle.

v.Socialize

We are social beings and that is why you get a certain high when you hang around good company. You irradiate positivity, excitement and life when you’re with them.

It is crucial who you pick to have around your life.

People who gossip, complain constantly and make bad choices will drain you. You want to keep positive people around who share your goals and interests.
