Six ways to alleviate bloating

If you’re wondering why you’re so gassy and bloated, there could be a number of reasons.

A common condition we all experience at one point, you will discover this happens mostly during holidays, birthdays and celebrations where there is a lot of feasting and unregulated drinking.

Your tummy feels stretched, uncomfortable and you feel as if it is getting full and tighter to the extent you have to unbutton your trouser.

To be sure that is what is happening in your body, you will notice that you’re farting more, you may have some heartburn, constipation and you become intolerant to some foods.

This, however, is not curved on rock.

Symptoms vary from person to person.

In certain cases, allergies, digestive disorders and stress can have an impact on bloating.

So, what exactly is bloating?

Also known as abdominal distension, it is the feeling of fullness and there is an increase in the size of your stomach. No matter how much you pass gas, belch or have a bowel movement, there is still no relief.

Well, here are some ways you can consider to help you alleviate this uncomfortable feeling.

1.Drink water

Being well hydrated does more good for your body than you can ever imagine. A good place to start would be drinking the recommended seven glasses daily to prevent constipation and flush out stored water and sodium.

Instead of drinking cold water, wine or juice with your meals, go for lukewarm or hot water before or an hour after heavy meal.

Drink slowly so it does not dilute the digestive enzymes and gastric juices your body needs for digestion.

2.Feed on probiotics

Don’t cut corners with supplements that may cause gas and other GI problems but go for the real foods that provide your body with the needed probiotics.

If you can’t stand the taste of fermented vegetables, kombucha or kefir, the easiest way to get all the right probiotics is through drinking yogurt.

3.Watch your sodium

If your tummy is feeling uncomfortable after a salty snack or meal, blame it on the salt. This causes your kidneys to retain water in effect causing gas.

Cut down on salt and replace it with some spices instead. Check the sodium levels on products you buy, prepare your own meals and increase your water intake.

4.Go green

By now you should know how important green leafy veggies are for your body. Add kales, spinach and other green vegetables to your diet to give your body some fiber, vitamins and minerals to help with bowel movement.

Not only are they low in calories, but by helping your boy produce stool it reduces gas and bloating. If you can’t eat them raw get creative and throw them in your smoothie, sandwiches or soups.

5.Go easy on dairy

If you happen to be lactose intolerant you may be forced to cut down on dairy products.

When your body is unable to break down the lactose found in your favorite cheese or milk, they can be a major cause of gas.

Stick to small potions if you must consume.

6.Start with some lemon water

To reduce water retention, begin your day with a warm glass of water with a freshly squeezed lemon first thing in the morning.

This acts as a natural diuretic aiding in digestion and helps to flush out your kidneys. This natural laxative will help you pass stool keeping your body from getting constipated and gassy.
