20 die, 486 test positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours

Some 486 people in Kenya have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 2,989 tested in the last 24 hours.

The country’s positivity rate now stands at 16.3 per cent.

From the positive cases, 457 are Kenyans while 29 are foreigners, with 293 males and 193 females.

The youngest confirmed positive case is a four-month-old infant while the oldest, a 94-year old individual.

The total confirmed cases now stand at 146,156, with the cumulative tests conducted so far at 1,564,827.

Nairobi County still leads with the number of positive cases (349) followed by Kiambu (21), Uasin Gishu (21), Mombasa (17) and Kilifi (16).

A total of 115 patients have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours. 54 of these are from Home Based Care and Isolation while 61 from health facilities across the country. This brings the total recoveries to 99,210.

The cumulative discharges now stand at 71,115 from Home Based Care and Isolation while 27,095 are from health facilities.

There have been a total of 20 reported deaths. With 13 being late month reports, five within the last month and 2 within the last 24 hours. The cumulative fatalities tally now stands at 2,368.

1,645 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities in the country, while 6,063 patients are on Home Based Care and Isolation. 248 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 169 of whom are on supplemental oxygen and 48 on ventilator support. 31 patients are in observation.
