You can overcome job annoyances

Career downfalls can cause even the most talented individual to want to give up. Sadly, that is part of life. If you decide to rage quit, you will probably regret it the next morning and here is why.

You will find yourself back in the unemployment pool with burnt bridges along the way. How you react will have a significant impact on how everything plays out.

Sure, you were promised a promotion but it was given to someone else who could even be less qualified than you are, a top performer left the company, you were denied your preferred off days or worse still, you were fired.

Whatever the situation, your disappointment is valid. You had your career path all planned out but as usual, things don't always work out as we intend them to.

Try not to dwell on it too much. Find your outlet and use it. This will help recalibrate after such a difficult situation. If you're having a difficult time adjusting consider talking to a career coach or a mental health professional. Give yourself some time to lick your wounds then once you're feeling better, make an action plan.

Once you are in the position to think objectively, evaluate what went wrong. If you got fired, for instance, look at the manager's point of view. Is there something they kept reprimanding you about?

Did you ever receive a warning letter at one point? If that happens to be the case fix those issues before you start your new job. If it is something else like a toxic boss, start searching for your next job.

After examining the situation from every angle, ask yourself what lessons you have learnt. Perhaps you need to have more realistic expectations and develop your self-awareness skills. In the meantime, expand your skill set.

This will come in handy in the long run. Work on a plan on how to bounce back from that situation. Rather than wallowing in self-pity and annoyance, focus on other things in your life.

In extreme cases, you may need to take some time out especially when you start feeling unproductive. Use that time to heal and strategise.

Remember, you are not the first person to experience a bad work situation and neither will you be the last. Learn the lessons, pick up yourself and take the next bold step.
