It is said that learning is a continuous process and every day is a chance to discover something new. The best way you can improve yourself and provoke critical thinking is through reading books.

Technology has taken over the world and for some books no longer fit in their schedules. However, you can still strive to create some time to read a book as this offers you an opportunity of adventure and an easy way of breaking screen and internet monotony. If you are struggling to keep up with your reading, here are some tips you can try:

Always carry a book

Whether you are going to work, the gym, to church or on a road trip, always carry a book. You never know when you will get a chance to read a few more pages. Also it will constantly act as a reminder for you to finish a chapter or page whenever you open your bag. Although for this to work the book needs to be hardcopy you can also put hourly reminders for the digital versions.

Set a target

Have a list of books you want to read and always tick off those you have completed. When you are able to track your reading progress, you get a sense of fulfillment and motivation. The best part is that you can recommend your favourite books to your friends and you will be amazed at how books can have a compounding effect. You will also be able to get good recommendations from other people too.

Your organisational skills will improve as you will need to find a way of scheduling your books into different time slots.

Share what you read

The best way to know how much a book impacts your life is by sharing information on it. You could write a journal, start a blog or share your thoughts over social media and have candid discussions with people on the book. This will not only motivate you to read more books but it will also provoke your thinking and give you a different perspective to life’s dynamics.
