Food in general can improve your mood if you’re feeling a little low. However, there are certain foods that contain mood boosting nutrients that help manage stress, reduce anxiety, fight depression and boost well-being.
1. Chocolate
Eating a little dark chocolate every day can help boost your mood by controlling cortisol and other stress related hormones. This is due to the antioxidants in chocolate, so next time you feel like indulging, remember that a little goes a long way.
2. Spinach
Spinach and other dark leafy greens are loaded with magnesium, which helps reduce anxiety and boost brain health, among other things. Get at least one serving of these vegetables every day to keep you feeling great.
3. Yoghurt
Research shows there is a link between healthy gut bacteria and moods. The more you have, the less likely you are to suffer from anxiety and depression so make sure to eat lots of probiotics like yoghurt and fermented foods.
4. Green tea
Sipping on a warm cup of green tea will soothe your mood, calm your nerves and brighten your day. This is because green tea is packed with an amino acid that helps combat anxiety.
