Grammy-award-winning artist Doechii has responded to backlash from netizens following claims that she was mistreating her team during the Met Gala.
In a viral video on social media, the “Anxiety” hitmaker was seen being rushed out of The Mark Hotel under a portable screen and several umbrellas to conceal her Louis Vuitton outfit before stepping onto the blue carpet.
However, some fans and netizens were unhappy with how she addressed her team regarding the umbrellas during the chaotic moment. The American rapper could be heard shouting at her team to get her more umbrellas to cover her look.
“Give me another umbrella, now. I need more umbrellas!” the “Denial is a river” rapper shouted.
Additionally, this occurred even before the event began, but things appeared to calm down shortly after.
Doechii took to her TikTok page and addressed the allegations regarding her behaviour at the Met Gala.
On her TikTok page, she wrote, “All jokes aside, this night was so overwhelming, but I wouldn’t change a thing. It was the night we all dreamed of, and my team did an amazing job, umbrellas aside.”
In the viral video, she playfully raised her hands in the style of the popular Druski meme, with The Commodores’ “Easy” playing in the background. She captioned the video, “God forbid a girl needs more umbrellas.”

Despite the drama at the entrance of the glamorous red carpet event, the ‘What it is’ hitmaker revealed her unique outfit. She was dressed in a sharp Louis Vuitton tuxedo jacket, checkered shorts, and a mahogany tie.
In the video, she expressed her gratitude to her team for the remarkable work they did to make her night a success. “I am so proud of my glam team and the LV team for an incredible night. We have been dreaming about this Met for a long time, and the theme this year was in such alignment with who I am and what I stand for. It’s nothing but God, for this year was our debut. Everyone killed it. We nailed the theme, and a good time was had,” she wrote.
Fans flooded the comment section with a variety of reactions. One user on Instagram wrote, “Not going to lie! That video surprised me. I couldn't be an assistant because there ain’t no way somebody is yelling at me like that.” Another wrote, “Outfit wasn’t all that to hide it. All that just for an afro and some shorts?”
This was Doechii’s first Met Gala appearance, and her debut was certainly unforgettable. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, she shared her excitement about being part of the luxurious Met Gala event and the theme that resonated with her.
“This is one of the biggest nights in fashion, and it feels amazing to be here representing Black culture. The theme, ‘student of hip-hop,’ really spoke to me,” the ‘Catfish’ rapper said.
