Prince Harry knew that by giving an explosive interview to Oprah Winfrey he would be rocking the boat for the Royals and has no regrets, an insider has claimed.

A royal expert said 'he new what he was doing' during the sensational sit-down he took part in together with his wife Meghan Markle earlier this year.

During the infamous interview with Oprah, Harry and Meghan made claims a member of the family had expressed 'concerns' about the colour of Archie's skin before he was born.

After the televised chat that sent shockwaves across the Firm, Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning.

"While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately."

In an interview with Page Six royal writer Ingrid Seward said the stir that followed was deliberate.

She said: “I can swear to you that, and he wanted to rock that boat. Quite why, I don’t understand, but he did want to. And then he did, and I don’t think he’s surprised by the repercussions or that he regrets it for a moment.”

Speaking of Meghan Markle she said she was excited when the former actress joined the Royal Family, “but I knew she was going to have a problem, being American” she added.

She said: “I think she had no idea she wouldn’t be able to say what she thought or wouldn’t be able to voice her opinion. That’s what she was used to all her life, and suddenly she’s in a straitjacket.”

She went on to say that the interview had maimed the royal institution and added: "Nobody attacks the royals. I’ve never heard of a member of the royal family criticizing them the way Harry or Meghan does."

It comes after reports that Prince Harry "didn't make any progress" with William and Charles during his recent trip to the UK for Prince Philip's funeral.

Palace insiders told the Sun "little was resolved about the race row" despite the trip to the UK for the funeral.
