Chrissy Teigen has opened up about the sheer grief she and husband John Legend have been through as they tragically lost their unborn son.

The former model, 34, and singer, 41, revealed in an emotional statement last month that the pair had lost their son Jack.

In their first interview since the tragedy, the pair described the "emptiness" they felt as they grieved for their son.

Appearing on Good Morning America, John revealed that he was initially "worried" about sharing the intimate pictures with the world, however now thinks it's a way for the pair to carry on Jack's memory.

John said: "[Chrissy] felt like really, that one of the ways we would carry on Jack’s memory was taking pictures of that moment. I was worried, I was like, 'I don’t want to like commemorate this pain'.

"But the crazy thing about having a miscarriage, is you don’t walk away with anything you have this emptiness.

"And we wanted to take the photos so that we had something to remember."

John went on to admit that the tragic loss has only made the pair - who wed in 2013 - stronger, as he praised his "courageous" wife for sharing their story.

He said: "I just know that I love my wife, more than ever.

"We’ve been through so many challenges together and they’ve made her stronger, and I know that doesn’t always happen when people go through tragedy."

John added: "I feel like the challenges we face together have made us feel even more sure about who we are together as a couple, and who we are as a family."

And Chrissy opened up about the grief she went through, admitting: "I definitely give myself permission to feel complete and utter grief.

"Every day is so different, so when people ask me how I’m doing, I always say, 'I’m okay, today'."

She added: "Obviously it’s so painful to go through something like this, as a woman – something that was inside your body that you were nurturing and taking care of."

The pair admitted that although they were forced to go through the most painful days of their life, their daughter Luna, four, and son Miles, two, have helped them come out a stronger family.
