To celebrate women's history month, one mum has shared a brilliant story on TikTok, which she believes shows why her daughter will one day go down in history.

The parent, named Bri, made a video explaining that her daughter wants to change her name - and is taking action to try and make it happen.

Posting under the username @bri_mom3, she told how she and her husband named their little girl Charlie Paige.

Charlie is now five-years-old, doesn't like her name and is desperate to be called Charlotte instead of Charlie.

Bri said: "So my little lady is named Charlie, Charlie Paige. I love her name, we chose her name, she looks like a Charlie. She is just my Charlie girl.

"But she doesn't like it and at five-years-old she wrote me a persuasive letter on why we should change her name to Charlotte.

"Then she did some research and she researched that in order to change your name, you have to go to the court, you have to pay around $200 in the state of Indiana, it has to be published and both of your parents have to agree if you're a minor.

"So she got to work."

The mum continues to say that Charlie started by writing the letter, explaining why she thinks Charlotte is a better name than Charlie, she then began trying to raise the $200 by selling friendship bracelets to her friends at school.

In a follow-up video, Bri reveals that the savvy youngster managed to make $80 by selling her bracelets to her pals at cheer practice and has kept at it and now has more than $150.

She's also requested that people at school call her Charlotte for the last year and asked her granddad to make her a backpack with her preferred name printed on it.

This prompted her parents to have a serious conversation about the name change as they want her to know she "can do anything she puts her mind to".

Thousands of people liked the mum's videos and were rooting for Charlie to get her way

One person replied: "Every Charlotte I know is nicknamed Charlie. It's not a huge leap. I think it's a great idea or her individuality."

Another said: "She's her own person, if she wants a different name then she should be able to pick it. It's a reasonable change too."

"Oh wow! Your baby girl is so smart and so determined. She has a bright future ahead of her," proclaimed a third.

Someone else wrote: "She researched? Are u kidding me? Grown-ups don't even do that. Wow. I would be so impressed I don't think the name would even matter lol."

Others thought that the youngster might grow to love her given name as she gets older and regret changing it.
