How to have even better sex after childbirth - with just three simple solutions

Health
 It can be daunting!

You've just given birth to a perfect little bundle of joy - congratulations!

Now, while you're in the throes of those early days, chances are sex is as far from your mind as training for a triathlon or having a bikini wax .

But as time passes and you get into the rhythm of parenting, you may start to think about having sex again .

For some, actually getting down to having post-baby sex is a seamless transition. For others, there may be more considerations to make, and it can be more difficult.

So to help parents not only enjoy sex again - but to have even better sex - fitness and postnatal expert Smith has some important tips.

And it comes down to three simple exercises, apparently.

Specifically, three different pelvic floor exercises.

"A lot of women have incontinence and prolapse and just weak pelvic floor which means they might not have any sensation down there, they might feel really uncomfortable."

"When you feel like everything's falling out, you feel really low in confidence - whereas if you start strengthening your pelvic floor and core and doing all the correct exercises then you start to feel more confident in your body."

Here's her three exercises.

1. Endurance holds

Engage and lift your pelvic floor for 3-4 seconds before releasing. Repeat for 8-10 reps. Slowly build up by increasing by 1 to 2 seconds each day

2. Power lifts

Engage your pelvic floor as quickly and powerfully as you can and then fully release. Lift straight back up with no rest in between. Aim for 10 rounds.

3. Functional movements

Combine doing pelvic floor exercises with functional movements - for example squats, lunges and push-ups.

Perhaps most importantly, however, Kimmy believes women shouldn't "force" themselves to bounce back in any way, and should instead embrace and work with any changes.
