Three million vaccines so far administered as Covid-19 cases up by 260

More than three million vaccines have so far been administered across the country.

The Health ministry has said of the 3,761,876 vaccines, the total first doses are 2,856,972 while the second doses were 904,904.

The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 31.7 per cent.

The proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 3.3 per cent, the ministry added.

This comes as 260 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Kenya in the last 24 hours.

The cases were from a sample size of 6,226. The positivity rate is now at 4.2 per cent.

From the cases, 256 are Kenyans while four are foreigners, said a statement signed by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe.

The youngest is a one-year-old child while the oldest is 99 years. The total confirmed positive cases are now 249,434 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,556,222.

In terms of county distribution, Nairobi recorded 63 cases, followed by Kajiado 19, Kitui 16, Kiambu 15, Nakuru 13, Uasin Gishu 11, Meru 11, Wajir 11, Bungoma 8, Garissa 6, Mombasa 6 and Homa Bay 5.

Today, 109 patients recovered from the disease with 78 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care programme, while 31 are from various health facilities countrywide.

The total recoveries now stand at 241,520, of whom 195,287 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation programme, while 46,233 are from various health facilities countrywide.

Four patients have succumbed to the disease, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 5,123.

A total of 1,021 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 2,193 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care programme.
