Makueni Governor Prof Kivutha Kibwana underwent minor surgery at Makueni County Referral Hospital on Saturday.
Unlike other politicians who prefer to go abroad for treatment, Governor Kibwana chose a local hospital in Makueni and revealed the name of the medics who carried out the operation.
“Undergoing a minor surgical procedure under Jacob Kengere Ombogo and Dr Patrick Musyoki at Makueni County Referral Hospital, Wote,” he tweeted on Saturday night.
The governor hailed health workers at the facility for what he described as dedicated services to locals.
“Thank you our healthcare workers for the dedicated health services offered to our residents,” he further wrote.
Makueni County Referral Hospital is a level 5 government hospital located in Wote town centre. The facility was previously known as the Makueni District Hospital.
Governor Kibwana, however, did not reveal the ailment and whether he was still at the hospital or had been discharged.
Attempts to reach him on phone bore no fruits.
Prof Kivutha was last seen in public on January 12 when he, Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua and their Kitui counterpart Charity Ngilu hosted a meeting bringing together political leaders, professionals and the clergy to discuss the region’s politics and development interests.
