Covid-19 positivity rate at 11.8% after 486 people test positive

The Ministry of Health on Sunday announced that 486 people tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 4,134 tested in the last 24 hours, pushing total confirmed infections to 145,670 with a positivity rate of 11.8 %.

In a statement to newsrooms, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said 490 patients recovered from the disease; 318 from various health facilities while 172 are from the Home-Based and Isolation Care. Total recoveries now stand at 99,095.

Of the cases, 463 are Kenyans while 23 are foreigners; 278 are males and 208 are females, while the youngest is a three-month-old infant and the oldest is 94.

CS Kagwe further stated that 18 deaths were reported; two occurred in the last 24 hours, 10 within the last one month while 6 are late death reports from facility record audits that occurred on diverse dates. This now takes cumulative fatalities to 2,348.

Cumulative deaths by age were as follows; 0-9 years (45), 10-19 years (17), 20-29 (95), 30-39 years (210), 40-49 years (326), 50-59 years (527), 60 years and above (1,128).

According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 1,660 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 5,994 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care. 256 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 44 of whom are on ventilatory support and 181 on supplemental oxygen. 32 patients are on observation.
