When decluttering the home, Marie Kondo would ask you if the item brings you joy.

If it doesn't, you probably don't need it - but what do you do with the items you decide to get rid of?

Some people might choose to sell them and make money from their unwanted stuff, while others will donate it all to charity shops.

But one woman has just revealed that her friend has a very different approach to getting rid of clutter.

She explained all in a post in the Facebook group Hinch Army Cleaning Tips, writing: "Looking to declutter? A friend posted a suggestion. One that's worth sharing."

She then shared her pal's words, saying: "My husband and I play a game. Whenever we go over to someone's house, we bring something we have decluttered and secretly hide it in their house in plain sight.

"Somewhere it makes sense for it to be: Books on the bookshelf, mugs in a cupboard, etc.

"We've gotten rid of so much stuff and only one person has ever noticed.

"Our families are nowhere near minimalists and we are easily amused..."

Thousands of people have liked the post, with hundreds commenting on it.

Many thought the idea sounded hilarious and "brilliant" and vowed to try it out for themselves.

"This is genius," replied one user.

"I love love love this. I once changed my sisters face in my mum's framed photos with a picture of a monkey. She didn't notice for over a month. I am going to definitely declutter your way. Sounds like so much fun," said someone else.

Another wrote: "Oh what fun we could have."

"Burst out laughing there. Brilliant idea LOL," added a fourth.

However there were some that weren't so keen on the idea of having other people's stuff in their home.
