Bride furious to discover real reason why entire family left her wedding early

Living

When planning a wedding day, many women want their entire family to be with them through it all.

And at the very least you'd hope your parents and siblings would want to stay and celebrate with you.

But one woman was left outraged when every single member of her family left the venue before the party really even got started.

The unnamed newlywed revealed all in a post on Reddit, where she asked fellow users if she was on the wrong to be angry about it.

She started by informing people that she doesn't live near her family, so they were travelling from all over to attend her wedding.

She'd decided to save costs for everyone making the trip by having the wedding at her home.

The ceremony was arranged for 3pm, the reception started at 4pm, with an after party planned for about 7pm.

"The after party was set up so that we could actually spend some real time with our friends and family instead of all the stiff formalities of the reception," the bride explained.

"Wedding and reception went great. Then it was time to head inside for the after party. Half the wedding left including my entire family. Not a single member of my family stayed."

And the reason why everyone suddenly departed is shocking.

She continued: "The next day I found out that my sister had planned a gender reveal party at my grandparent's house for the same day as my wedding and NOBODY told me.

"Nobody bothered to ask if I wanted to go. Nobody showed up to my party. Nobody even apologised for not coming.

"They had all flown in just for the weekend so I didn't get to talk to them before the wedding as it was all hectic from wedding prep. Then they flew out the next day."

She added: "Now I don't even know how to talk to them, I'm just so mad. Especially mad at my sister for even considering to do something like this on what should have been my day."

More than 870 people commented on the woman's post, with many agreeing that her sister was on the wrong.

One person wrote: "Needless to say planning any event on a day when you know someone else already has something planned is a bad move.

"Though it kind of sounds like your family doesn't like you very much."

Another said: "How could she plan this the day of her sister's wedding?

"Scratch that, it doesn't even matter if it's your family. If it's someone you care about at all you don't do anything on or at someone's wedding besides have fun. It's their day. Don't announce anything, don't propose, just enjoy the wedding and do your thing tomorrow."
