'It's my wife's turn to pick our son's name and I hate it - he will be bullied'

A man who has an arrangement with his wife where they take it in turns to name their babies has admitted that he doesn't like the name she's chosen.

The man explained that he and his wife had been together since they were 14 and married young.

They had a little girl together, but briefly separated after experiencing some marriage difficulties.

During that time his wife ended up falling pregnant with another man.

He said: "My wife felt pretty awful about herself (I initiated the break) and ended up hooking up with one of her longtime male friends and she got pregnant.

"At six months pregnant, we reconnected again and got back together. Her friend had absolutely no interest in the baby (he had begged her to abort) and told us he would not play a role in the baby's life whatsoever."

The couple agreed to raise the baby together, and all had been going well until they reached one month to the due date; they couldn't agree on the baby's name.

Talking of their first born, he said: "The deal was I named our daughter Charlotte (my wife didn't actually like the name but she agreed so long as she got to name the next kid) and she can name our next child."

But, his wife took inspiration from a book she was reading to name their son, and he hates it.

"She came up to me yesterday and told me she was reading a book and found the perfect name. I asked her what and she said "Tuesday".

"When she first said it, I admittedly laughed out loud and I asked her if she was serious. She said yes, she was, and it's her decision."

Despite giving her copious reasons as to why they shouldn't name their son Tuesday, like the fact that he'll get bullied, she wouldn't budge and simply told him that lots of kids have unique names now-a-days.

He continued: "I told her that yes, UNIQUE names not days of the week. She wasn't hearing it and pointed out she hated the name Charlotte and agreed on the basis she would get to name the next kid.

"I argued that's a totally different thing, Charlotte is a NORMAL name, our daughter won't get laughed at because of it. My wife got frustrated and after arguing on and off for the rest of the day she finally told me he wasn't even my kid.

"I just walked off and although she came right back and apologized and that she didn't mean it, I was f*****g p****d."

The man has asked Reddit users for "ammunition" for when he explains to his wife why it's a ridiculous name.

And even though the post received a mixed response, everyone said that the agreement they came to when naming their children was a bad idea from the start.

One person said: "Your whole naming convention sucks. You both should have agreed to your daughter’s name and you both should agree to your new baby’s name. Co-parenting means working together and communicating."

Another person said: "To be fair Tuesday is a really dumb name."

Whilst a third suggested: "Maybe compromise and have the middle name be Tuesday with a regular name."

But others said that naming their child was the least of their worries.

One person commented: "Can’t get over the fact that she said “It’s not even your kid” like come the f**k on. Low blow and a really s****y thing to say considering he’s about to help her with another man’s child."

And a second said: "You're planning to raise another man's child with your almost ex-wife, your relationship is evidently on thin ice and you think your problem is the kid's name?"

If you could pick only one person to live with forever who would it be?
