Junk food is good once in a while

Living

So the past few days have seen me have a craving for junk food… chicken strips, burgers, burritos you name it. Call if bad influence but trust me after taking months before digging into junk…boy oh boy it felt real good! Each time after enjoying this junk meal, I measured the calories in there and went straight for lemonade or galloped two glasses of water at one go to make up for breaking the code.

Then I wondered, how do people eat junk every single day and not apologise to their bodies by atleast stretching keep up with it? The oil, carbohydrates and all!

Now I know that it gets to that point when we simply become comfortable with our bodies and diet. Studies have proven that exercise helps all kinds of body types age gracefully. And though we might not exercise religiously, it’s important to do it once a week or every two weeks.

And gym instructors normally say there is no exercise better than walking. I agree. Walking is one of the most efficient exercises one can ever do. It gives you time to think as you walk on, know how badly you’ve been treating your body by the level of perspiration you feel.

However back to that junk conversation, if you are going to religiously pick from the junk menu, remember to pick some mustard sauce of garden salad or just anything veggie you find suitable to balance the oil getting into your body. Imagine if just like smokers are shown that chart of how your inner body organs look like when you smoke for too long, was the same done for those who pack their bodies with junk food? Ha-ha that would be something a few would have the courage to look at.

That said I believe eating should not have so many rules except “do not eat too much of anything and everything.” Because we all know even too much exercising could rub off negatively on your muscles… Make you look a little manly like you’re on some kind of competition with the guys!

Next time you get the craving to walk into a fast foods, do it, eat and live in the moment and then when done with it, take comfort in the fact that someone did exactly what you did. Trust me when I see those yummy ‘striping chicken’ rolling at a fast foods place, I always look forward to mid month when I break the rules of my healthy eating and head straight for that grill. The last 30 days have seen me eat more junk food since we got into 2014.

 Only this time I hope I can conquer my new craving for it and return to my heavenly healthy non-junk dishes. In fact as you read this I’m cooking me and friends some steamed matoke, sukuma and peanut sauce to go with blended orange juice.
