League champions hope to extend unbeaten run after poor start.
On form Kenyan Premier League champions Tusker will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run when they host struggling AFC Leopards at Kinoru Stadium tomorrow.
The brewers, who are currently tied on points (24) with second-placed Ulinzi Stars but edged out on goal difference, haven’t lost in their past seven games following disastrous start to the season.
But it is an opposite scenario for Leopards whose form has dipped dramatically leaving their coach Stewart Hall with an uncertain future in the den.
Reports are rife that the Briton could leave the 11th placed Ingwe in the mid-season transfer window.
While AFC striker Paul Kiongera is expected to face a late fitness test, the brewers’ duo of Noah Wafula and Danson Kago have been ruled out of the game due to personal reasons and injury.
Despite Leopards’ slump, former Tusker assistant coach Francis Baraza has warned his players not to underrate their opponents.
“Every team goes through some dip of good and bad form. We have been in both situations before so we know how dangerous it is. Yes, right now AFC are not doing well but we cannot afford to underrate them,” Baraza told The Standard Sports.
“This is big game between two big teams. We have instructed our players to take it with the seriousness it deserves
“We just want to continue pushing hard like we have done in our past few matches. Being a home game, we hope to protect our winning streak.”
In another equally exciting fixture tomorrow, both league leaders Gor Mahia and fourth placed Posta Rangers will be looking to bounce back to winning ways as they face-off at Nyayo Stadium.
Hosts Rangers’ 11 game unbeaten streak came to halt last weekend after losing by a solitary goal to Ulinzi Stars.
