Susan Anyango, the 19-year-old Miss Kenya crown holder, jets in today after a dazzling performance at the Miss World competition whose winner was crowned last night.

In the company of the Kenyan Miss World franchise holder Terry Mungai, the model is scheduled to land at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at 6.30am via Kenya Airways. She will brief the media ahead of a ceremony to celebrate her great feat in the event featuring over 160 beauties from all over the world.

The beauty queen – who lost her father at the age of five and her mother when she was 12 — posted one of the best performances any Kenyan representative has ever achieved by hitting the top 20 just before the 10 finalists were picked on Thursday.

Susan was among the top performing African models in the London show, where no African made it to the final 10.

By the time we went to press, Miss China, Miss Paraguay, Miss Chile, Miss Guatemala, Miss US Virgin Islands, Miss Kazakhstan, Miss Puerto Rico, Miss Indonesia, Miss Ukraine and Miss St Barthelemy were set to take the stage, where the winner was to be announced.

Alexandria Mills of the US, who was in Kenya recently on a charity tour was set to crown her successor late last night. This was the 61st edition of the Miss World pageant.

Tycoon denies fathering Nazlin’s children

Business tycoon Madatali Chatur has denied being the father of politician Nazlin Umar’s children. In response to a suit filed by the 2007 presidential aspirant seeking a monthly maintenance of Sh2.2 million and Sh250 million dowry from him, Chatur denies ever marrying Nazlin and accuses her of being an extortionist and litigious.

"I am also not the father of any of her four children whom she claims I have failed to provide maintenance, as they indeed have their father whom Umar should be asking for the maintenance," Chatur says.In documents filed in court, besides the sought cash, Nazlin is laying claim to property owed by the tycoon. Among other investments listed as belonging to Chatur is Diamond Plaza in Parklands, Shelly Beach Hotel in South Coast, Wonder Paradise Beach Resort in Diani and New Muthaiga Shopping Mall.
