The KenyaPharmTech describes plastic surgery as procedures to repair and reconstruct missing or damaged tissue and skin or elective surgery to improve the appearance or remove signs of aging of body parts that seem to perform just fine.

There has been increasing numbers of patients, men and women, seeking cosmetic surgery in Kenya.

Speaking to the Business Daily, Dr Angela Muoki, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon in Nairobi, acknowledged that the Covid-19 period has presented the perfect time for clients to seek reconstructive surgery.

Since most are working from home, have no need to ask for time off and no one would notice. According to Dr. Muoki, the procedures with the highest demand are liposuction, breast lifts and tummy tucks.

Before jumping into the bad wagon, here are things to consider:

-Be honest with yourself.

-Come to terms with expectations; cosmetic procedures are usually permanent and dramatic

-Is it a form of abuse from a partner who would like you to change your physical appearance?

-Consider timing; recovery depends on the extent of the surgery and it may take up to six months.

-Financing; you need to save up since elective cosmetic surgeries are not covered by insurance.

-Pain management
