It is only recently that the beauty industry started to embrace darker skin tones. In the past it was not easy to find quality products that could work for your skin tone, they were either unaffordable or too cheap to risk.
The demand for good quality beauty products in varying skin tones has grown so much that the market is starting to flood with products that truly suit the African skin.
With makeup products taking the center stage and everyone wanting a piece of the pie, a few Kenyan brands have gone far and beyond to create products that truly suit our skin and those we can afford. Here is list of some of these products you should know:
Driven by how expensive beauty products were, not to mention the large number of counterfeit products that were flooding the market, Suzie Wokabi decided to launch her own line in 2011. The Suzie Beauty range consists of skincare products, lippies, foundation and many more. This was amongst the first Kenyan brands to be launched in the country.
Launched in 2018, this brand is revolutionizing the makeup industry for many Kenyan women. With over fifteen shades of foundation to choose from without forgetting all the amazing lipsticks, Pauline Cosmetics have the dark skinned woman covered.
Just like any other make up company out there, Canvas is all about empowering the everyday woman and what better way than to empower the black woman. From liquid matte lipsticks, to eye shadow sets and foundation, Canvas is here to cater for all skin types.
Joanna K Cosmetics
This brandKin is owned by the famous YouTuber Joanna Kinuthia, who uses her face as a canvas to teach ladies how to apply makeup. It was launched in 2018 and comprises different lippies that match perfectly with dark skin. Joanna has since added eye shadow sets to her collection.
This line was launched in 2016, which started with the liquid matte lippies. From reviews and online buzz, her products are considered soft and easy to apply. She also has amazing eye shadow palettes and all her products are affordable and accessible.
