Amazon has been urged to clean up its act over adverts showing only female models using items such as vacuum cleaners, mops and dusters.
A women’s rights group blasted the site’s listings as “half a century behind the time”.
Hitting out after the US giant’s annual Prime Day sale, Fawcett Society chief Sam Smethers said: “Astonishingly, research has revealed men are entirely capable of doing housework.
“These ads send a damaging message to women and to men.
"Retailers like Amazon need to stop lazily reinforcing outmoded gender roles.”
One listing shows a woman in hot pants with a dustpan.
A male customer said: “It’s out of date and pretty sexist.”
The Advertising Standards Authority, which bans gender stereotypes, said it had received no complaints.
Amazon declined to comment.
