As every man knows, looking effortlessly fashionable often requires a ot of effort. For instance, you have to wash your clothes and iron them well before you step out looking all fresh. For shoes, they are a huge statement for men. They say, a man’s shoes say a lot about him.
Therefore, we need to get it right when we choose which type of shoes to wear. Sneakers, for instance, might seem easy to wear but do you know that most men get it wrong?
No matter what kind of sneakers you settle on, there are a few basic principles for how to wear sneakers. Here are a few rules that you should follow;
1. Do they suit your current wardrobe?
What good does it do to buy the latest ‘hype’ style if it doesn’t suit your style? Don’t hop on the trend train just because it’s passing through. Choose shoes that complement what you already have, not shoes that require you to repurchase your entire wardrobe.
2. Keep rotating them
It’s wise to avoid repeating the same sneakers too often. The quickest and easiest way to completely destroy a nice pair of is by wearing them every day. In fact, it’s advisable to not wear the same pair more than once a week. If you do yourself a favor and get a couple of extra pairs, all of your shoes will last three times as long or more.
3. Wear them to the right occasions
Sneakers are incredibly versatile, but they’re no substitute for dress shoes. You can get away with sneakers with any off-duty outfit – and perhaps even some casual, unstructured suits – but they’re not meant for every occasion
4. Keep them clean
It doesn’t matter how cool your sneakers are, the effect will be lost if they’re not clean. Proper sneaker maintenance includes washing the laces, eliminating odors, brushing the outsoles, and using shoe trees and sneaker shields.
5. Don’t buy white sneakers if you are not a super clean guy
Only buy white sneakers if you are sure you can put an effort to maintain them. White sneakers take a lot of effort to clean. If left unclean for too long, they tend to develop a brownish color which is not impressive to look at.
6. Don’t wear white soaks
The only person allowed to wear white soaks was Michael Jackson so don’t ever wear white soaks if you are not Michael. White soaks cannot be worn with formal shoes or casual shoes. You are permitted to wear white soaks only with running shoes
