Apart from filling you up, what you choose to eat or drink plays a major role in your wellness. Different foods effect different changes in your body since they are made up of different components. From how your skin looks, to how your brain functions to how you sleep, your diet makes a huge part of who you are.

Most of the times you’re tempted to eat food that may not have very great nutritional value while at others you are just not aware of what exactly you’re feeding your body. Either way, consuming a bad diet has its effects which sooner or later will show.

Some of the signs that you need to check what you eat include;

Skin problems

Food rich in nutrients and vitamins makes your skin glow as they reduce inflammation and decrease the likelihood of breakouts. When you stop taking such foods and instead indulge in a non-nutritional diet, acne, wrinkles and blemishes will start bothering you. Once you notice a persistent breakout on your skin, especially on your face, you need to cut out on fat, sugars and processed foods.

Constant fatigue

Healthy foods in your diet ensure that oxygen is transportated all over your body, hence replenish your energy levels keeping you going. Foods like energy drinks and fast foods that spike your energy levels will also leave you drained right after they’ve been absorbed. Sticking to a balanced diet which includes plenty of vegetables will solve this problem for you.

Body odor and bad breath

Sweat we produce is not responsible for the bad odor we associate it with. Foods rich in iron help your body produce red blood cells, which help store and carry oxygen in the blood. This circulation is essential for healthy hair and lack of it causes negative impacts. Diet that has adequate fatty acids, vitamin B12, and folic acid keeps your hair in good shape and prevents breakage, slow growth and falling out. Antioxidants in some foods fight viruses and microbes while vitamins and minerals take care of simple illnesses like flu and cold. If your body suddenly can’t handle a simple cold, you might need to revise your diet. Processed and canned foods may fill you up but will give little or no nutrient to you hence lowering your immunity.
