New inventions and developments are made every other day. Scientists have made a step further in their bid to actualize the male contraceptive pills. Scientists made a declaration that they have in deed developed a male contraceptive pill that is safe and does not affect the sex drive. (The telegraph News)
The drug has supposedly been tested on 83 men for one month for the very first time. The test was carried out at the University of Washington Medical Centre, where three doses of the contraceptive pill was used on 100 men but only 83 completed the test.
The new drug, called dimethandrolone undecanoate, or DMAU, includes a long-chain fatty acid which slows down the clearance, allowing just one dose to be taken each day. (The telegraph News).
The drug is designed to target receptors in the brain that trigger sperm production hence lowering the count level. This in turns prevents pregnancy. The scientists noted that the drug is safe and does not affect the sex drive in any way.
