5 crucial places we often forget to clean

Your Home

Cleaning is not exactly a fun thing and the less you have to do the better. Most of us clean what we see. When dishes are piling on the sink, the furniture is dusty or there are tons of dirty clothes all over, you will be forced to get down and dirty.

But do you ever think of those places that are completely hidden and out of sight that need some attention too?

Here is a list of five places you should always factor in when cleaning the house.

Houseplants

Both plastic and live plants can accumulate a lot of dust and what’s worse is they do not hide it. If you can carry them to the sink or bathroom run some water through them to remove the dust. If they are too large use a microfiber cloth to wipe individual leaves.

Closet floors

When your closet needs some sprucing up you will know it because the clothes will be piled high and every time you open the door it is a disaster. Instead of folding and re-arranging the clothes do a thorough clean out. Not only will it be a good time to sift out what you don’t wear but get down to the closet floor and scrub. Closet floors can become a breeding ground for mould and insects.

Cabinet tops and doors

We tend to ignore what’s beyond our line of view hence the importance to routinely clean the top of door frames, kitchen and tall storage cabinets, picture frames and ceiling corners. Take the opportunity to clean light fixtures using a microfiber cloth.

Under furniture

Scrubbing under beds and seats is not fun but someone has to do it. When you look underneath furniture you will find a few dust bunnies rolling, nothing a vacuum cleaner or mop can’t take care of. But have you ever checked under the furniture?

Walls and baseboards

Whether or not you have young ones cleaning walls is just as important as cleaning floors. Dust and grime tend to cling on vertical and horizontal spaces. Take some time to scrub the walls starting at the top working your way to the bottom using a duster that traps particles. Pay attention to light switches, door knobs and baseboards.
