Balancing school with a job or business will pay off

Living

Most comrades are fortunate enough to get work, or start a profitable businesses while in college.

Get into the habit of making money while in campus. Whether in business or working, do your best to be self-sufficient as early as possible. Even those without a job should find a way of earning. The internet is awash with options from academic writing (that I don’t necessarily consider a legitimate income source), you can teach yourself coding and create websites, engage in social media marketing or become a research assistant for your professor.

The problem with working or doing business while in campus is that you can easily get carried away, especially if the job or business is engaging and the perks lucrative. Most of the time, half the things we study in university never makes sense. The courses are outdated, the lecturers and the lecturers can be sickeningly boring and the routine never ideal for business and this can make you despise school.

But experience has taught me that it is prudent to balance and make sure you graduate with the right grade at the right time. Somehow, you will always need that grade, several years down the line. For a plum job (more so in the government), or to advance your studies, should a bug for a Master’s or a PhD strike, you need that certificate. You can never go wrong with finishing school. You may lose the job; however strategic you are to a company. Your business may flounder, and you may need your degree to get on with life. Don’t squander the chance, because in life, we rarely get second chances.
