The trend of believing in the unbelievable is the same with weight loss

Why is it that no matter how much information we gain, we still choose the easier ways in life that promise faster results even when we know better?

Look at pyramid schemes for instance; you would think people have not heard about them since they keep joining these get-rich-quick schemes.

This is the same trend with people trying to lose weight. People do not want to change lifestyles or get tired exercising.

Not in this era with quick fixes available all over the internet and social media.

The trend of believing in the unbelievable is the same with weight loss.

I am perplexed by things people do, eat and drink to achieve their weight loss dream, a flat belly and the sweet promise of a six pack.

If you do not believe me, make up a crazy formula: mix some raw vegetables and while at it throw in some herbs, get a photograph of a well-hipped lady in her sexy workout outfit from the Internet, post this picture alongside your "magic drink" and the amount of interest this will generate will astound you.

Weight loss and subsequent weight-management calls for a journey of a total lifestyle change.

This means you change your way of living. The change should not be for a week or a month but a life time.

Before reaching the conclusion that your diet will be plain vegetables and fruits with a nibble of a carbohydrate here and a protein there, ask yourself if this is a diet you can sustain.

Before embarking on that exercise schedule, find out its end result to avoid frustration and endangering your health.

There are different exercises recommended for different purposes and to different people.

Do not do squats because that is what the YouTube girl does.

Do not limit yourself to a diet that you do not enjoy, one that makes meal time a struggle. A diet that makes you salivate and develop temporary tremors when you smell your neighbour's meal.

So, if you have cut out wheat and its products from your diet, is this forever?

Remember there is no bad food in this world. What matters is the frequency and amounts consumed. So, eat variety sources of carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals.

Do not eat until you are full; eat until you are satisfied.

Make vegetables your friend but not the only food on your plate; they should be the largest portion at all meals.

Consume small portions of carbohydrates and animal proteins concentrating on whole foods rather than processed ones.

Avoid skipping any meal, breakfast being the largest, and reduce quantities as the day grows older.

Have a healthy snack like a fruit in between meals when you feel hungry. Do not just eat because food is available.

Develop an exercise plan that suits you. If you strain your body too much, you can get injuries that can prevent you from exercising for the rest of your life.

Make it a habit to exercise every day; your weight will not reduce in one week.

If you choose the easy way out; a diet and exercise routine that promises quicker results, you will get your results quickly.

But because such methods are neither manageable nor sustainable, you will sooner or later find yourself
