Yes, some of us women do not know how to cook, clean or wash, so what?

There was a time when being a woman was all about service; taking care of everyone else and putting your needs and wants on the back burner.

These days, however, there is a new crop of women who have men running scared. Men claim there are women who have absolutely no clue how to cook, leave alone running a kitchen!

It’s no secret, some women these days don’t know how to cook, clean or wash clothes. But I’ve always wondered why that should be such a big deal. There is more to being a woman than just knowing how to do household chores.

Gentlemen, it is the dawn of a new era! We are a new breed of women. My friend, if you think you can still get a woman in this day and age who can overwork herself with household chores like a lunatic, and still go to toil at work, clearly you can dream!

I mean, we both work, bring home the bacon, but you still expect me to get into the kitchen and do all the other household chores? You must be kidding! Forget it!

multitasking geeks

There are no superwomen and multitasking geeks in the name of wives left on this earth, our mothers were the last lot. Painful but very true! My guy, we are in a new era and just like men have discovered pink trousers and shirts, and visits to the salon, women have seen the light.

The other day my brother confessed to me that his girlfriend could not cook to save her life, that on many occasions when she had decided to cook him a meal, he had often suffered in silence and eaten food that no self-respecting dog would eat.

Then a few days ago a colleague who I will call Brian also made the announcement at work how he was sick and tired of dating girls who did not know how to cook or clean, that such types of women where everywhere and that no man wanted a “domestically limited woman”.

If men think the world is in some sort of crisis because some women no longer know how to cook, clean and wash, they are in for a rude shock. Life goes on.

It really is not as serious as men think it is, and there are justifiable reasons why we women are not able to cook and clean like our mothers did in the past.

Like men, we too leave for work very early in the morning, we too have jobs and other commitments, and so when we return home late, we are exhausted.

And just like men we also want to rest, we want to put up our feet up and watch our favourite soaps and have someone else cook for us.

Working hard

I mean why not, because just like men we have been out hustling and working hard all day. Where again are we supposed to get the extra energy to come home and make ugali from scratch and dust the house.

That is why I do not understand why men get their knickers in a twist when women also want to rest like they do after a long day at work.

And the best part about it is that these days we women can hire house managers who can cook and clean on our behalf.

And other times we can buy homemade food from the supermarket. The options are really limitless, so dear men there is no crisis! If a woman cannot or doesn’t know how to cook, take a chill pill - it’s not that serious.
