DATING:

Martin: We met back in 2009 at Hit Score Studios where I had gone to record my first single and then we became friends. We used to hang out a lot ever since we became friends so I can’t actually remember which one was first.

She is my best friend, she has a charming smile and she loves children. We discovered that we had so much in common in that we are perfectionists, we love cartoons, we don’t watch soaps and football, we both love music and we like spending our spare time indoors watching movies. However, we make decisions differently. I prefer thinking; she prefers feeling.

THE PROPOSAL

Martin: The proposal was at Ole Polos in Kiserian, Kajiado County during an engagement shoot although we were not engaged yet. We were just about to wind up then I popped the question. She had been waiting for too long. It was a fulfilling moment for both of us.

I thought it would be the best time and the shoot would bear much significance. I chose her because we complement one another and we are best friends. The best choice she ever made in her life was to accept marry me. I purpose to make her the happiest woman in the whole world as we enjoy our marriage.

THE WEDDING

Janet: I bought my gown in Bangkok, Thailand. We chose fruit cake because it’s very tasty. We had the most amazing committee members for our wedding planning and everything went smoothly on our part. My most memorable moment during the wedding was probably the few seconds right before our first kiss, when my heart was pounding out of my chest.

Martin: My memorable moment was when the bride couldn’t hold back her joy and burst into laughter during the exchange of vows. Also, that selfie moment just after being declared husband and wife.

THE DRAMA

We are from two different ethnic backgrounds which mean our cultures are totally different. Some were really offending at times. Our homes are far apart so coordinating most of the things especially those that involve parents was very taxing.

HONEY MOON: We went to Diani Reef Beach Resort in South Coast.

ADVICE

Martin: Three words. Marry your friend.

Janet: Don’t have any regrets once you choose your partner; we wouldn’t change anything about us. Changing your spouse is artificial and unreal, and in many cases, it’s a person’s flaws that make them human and unique.

It would be odd if even their most annoying habits all of a sudden disappeared. There is a reason why opposites attract. It would be quite boring if you married someone like you because 1. You wouldn’t grow, 2. You wouldn’t get out of your comfort zone and 3. You wouldn’t enter into someone else’s world. So I think we should embrace our differences.
