I had a one night stand with my boss and he got me pregnant, what should I do?

Fitness

I’m quite naive when it comes to men and I started a fling with my boss. Now I’m pregnant.

I’m 25, so I should have known better. However, I keep trying to justify my actions by reminding myself that he doesn’t have a partner, which is still no justification for sleeping with the boss.

I know he doesn’t love me – he’s made that pretty clear. “It’s just a bit of harmless fun”, he said.

Well, it just got serious. How do I tell him? And how do I tell my parents that I’m expecting a child with a man I’m not even dating? I’m the last person they’d expect this to happen to!

I know I want the child, but part of me knows that I will be doing it alone. What do you suggest?

At this point I think you just have to own it. That moment of fun has turned into a life-changing situation, so stop thinking about what you should and shouldn’t have done and focus on the present and the future.

The way to approach him is to tell him you’re keeping the baby and that you believe he should know as the father, but that you don’t expect him to be involved.

Although he’s been clear he doesn’t want a relationship, hopefully he’ll want to contribute practically and financially when it comes to the baby – that would be the best-case scenario.

He should step up to the plate and take responsibility for his ‘harmless fun’. But, if he doesn’t, you’ll have to live with it and he’ll have it on his conscience.

As for your parents, yes they’re bound to be shocked because you don’t have a boyfriend, so they’re not expecting it.

But you’re 25, you’re not an underage teenager, so I’m sure once they’re over the initial shock they’ll be supportive.
