It is that time of the year, drinks are flowing and plates get filled during the Christmas season.
After a long stressful year, it is only fit to celebrate goals achieved and socialize. Choosing what to wear is very important but what will be a lifesaver is knowing how to carry oneself on this occasion. A good reputation can be destroyed in only five minutes and nobody wants that.
Drinks: The free alcohol might look like the perfect Christmas gift. While you may be tempted to try out something new, it is advisable to skip that part or minimize on it. Do not go on a drinking competition with workmates and most importantly avoid hoarding the drinks.
Everyone knows their drinking limit so stick to it, it is not cute to trip, or fall over the boss. Make water your best friend, alternate it with the alcohol. It is wise to get a driver for transport back home after taking alcohol.
Socialize:The essence of a party is to let loose, socialize and have fun. Mingle with coworkers. Tempting as it might be, avoid airing grievances or asking for a raise. Keep the conversation fun and reflect on the good things that happened thought the year. In as much as there is a lot to be said, try not to dominate the conversations.
Time Conscious : It is advisable to keep time and avoid arriving at the last minute. This is not a club where one arrives fashionably late.
Food: There is plenty of food in such parties. Try not to look greedy, practice restraint by avoiding piling a lots food on the plate.Go slow with the chewing and don’t talk with a full mouth. Avoid walking all over the scene with handfuls of food.
Romance: Office romance are a tricky affair. Avoid drinking and confessing love because chances are, this may look silly .If this is something that needs to be done, then do it when sober and be tactful. For those dating, avoid getting too cosy with each other in full view of your colleagues.
