Negative side of emergency pills

uReport

By Sarah N Muriithi

Despite a long legal battle to make morning-after pills more widely available, people should avoid misusing the pills. Emergency pills are intended to disrupt or delay ovulation or fertilisation. My biggest question is,  why should one compete with nature? I believe that anything with an advantage has a disadvantage too. Unfortunately, most people do not look at the negative side.

Majority of those who use the pills are sexually active and, shockingly, under 25 years. My advice to them is that they should either abstain from sex or use condoms. Unprotected sex may not only lead to pregnancies, but also STDs. The most common side effects reported by users of these pills are nausea, abdominal pain and headaches.
