Kenya's positivity rate now 16.3% after 1,463 test positive for Covid

Kenya's positivity rate has moved to 16.3 per cent after 1,463 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

In a statement to newsrooms on Thursday night, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said 1,080 patients are still admitted in hospitals with Covid.

The positive cases were from a sample size of 8,976, Mutahi added.

From the new cases, 1,428 were Kenyans and 35 were foreigners.

At the same time, 26 people died, pushing the national fatality tally to 2,092.

The country's recoveries moved to 91,268 after 498 patients recovered from Covid-19.

Kenya's caseload now stands at 126,170 with total cumulative tests being 1,443,701.

From the new cases, 802 are men while 661 are female.The youngest was a three-month-old infant and the oldest aged 103. 

Nairobi continued to lead in the number of Covid cases, recording 766 in the last 24 hours, followed by Nakuru (126), Meru (83) and Uasin Gishu (74), among others.
