Skin Care

Dark spots on the skin are commonly caused by sun damage, hormones, ageing, poor lifestyle choices and many other reasons. Those conditions trigger inflammation and excess melanin production, which then results in the appearance of spots.

Although they can be annoying to deal with, there is always a way out. With a lot of research and a consistent skincare routine, those marks will disappear.

Below are tips to guide you on what you can do to achieve clear skin.

Use Vitamin E

This is a holy grail for many people. Vitamin E oil is known to accelerate healing and promote clear skin. Just make sure you find pure vitamin E oil and apply it daily. You can also select creams and serums that contain vitamin E oil so that you don’t miss out on all its benefits.

Cleanse with African black soap

Pure black soap will do wonders on your skin. It’s not only good for skin but also for hair. African black soap contains anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, vitamin A and E and it can be used as an exfoliator and a cleanser. Seriously, there’s nothing this soap can’t handle. As you use it to clear the dark spots, you end up with more benefits than you expected which is mind-blowing. You need to add some African black soap to your shopping cart right away.

Do a turmeric mask

Turmeric powder itself can be a little staining but it does the job perfectly. It has some anti-inflammatory properties that ease the appearance of spots and it also works with your skin to control the melanin production which helps your skin heal. To make it more effective, add some lemon and honey to your turmeric and let it sit on your skin for a few minutes before rinsing. This will really give you the results you need.

Use sandalwood

Using sandalwood in my skincare routine personally changed my skin. It faded the dark spots and it also revived my complexion in a huge way. Sandalwood has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-ageing properties among many other powerful properties. Get some sandalwood powder or sandalwood soap for best results. Mix the powder with some rose water for a sandalwood mask and wash your face with the soap as well.

Go for laser treatments

If you’re comfortable with slightly invasive procedures like laser spot treatments, go for it. A specialist will basically use a machine that blasts light on your skin to fade the spots one by one. The reason it’s popular is that it works. The treatments can be costly so you need to think about that before considering this method.

Use sunscreen

Using sunscreen is one of the primary steps for clearing dark spots. It’s both a preventive and healing measure because it protects your skin from more sun damage. As you try out different skincare routines, you have to ensure that you apply sunscreen whenever you’re stepping out. You don’t want to expose your skin to sun damage and reverse all the progress you made.

The final tip is to be patient because some of these remedies take a while before you can see a significant difference.

What’s the silliest rumour you’ve ever heard about yourself?
