#MyWord: All you need is love...

Relationships

John Lennon, member of the English rock band The Beatles seems to have had an epiphany when he wrote the song, “All You Need is Love”, which was recorded and released in 1967.

In 2021, the lyrics of this song resonate in a world that is looking for answers to questions about love -- does love really exist? Can we really overcome everything if there is love? Is love an obsession? Is it a feeling or is it a choice?

In the era of the pandemic where most of the world is reeling from the effects of the bad decisions they made a few years back, it is difficult to see how anyone can claim that the answer to all our questions, our worries and our problems can be love? How can it be even remotely possible that “all you need is love?”

Well, there’s one line of this famous Beatles song that might summarise it. “Nothing you can do, but you can learn how to be you in time”.

How to be you. How to accept you. How to embrace you.

It’s the answer to so many things, self-reflection and acceptance. Looking within yourself and finding your weaknesses. Facing them and finding out how to turn them into strengths.

Have you ever thought that perhaps everything that happens to you happens for a reason? That it’s an opportunity for you to grow, and learn and thrive? “There’s nowhere you can be that isn’t where you’re meant to be,”...the Beatles sang.

So you’ve been hurt? Why not turn it into a lesson? So you’ve been abandoned? How about learning to depend on yourself? So you’ve been lied to? Why not use that to grow wiser. So you have been through difficult times that nearly tore you and your loved one apart? Why not turn into a story of survival?
