Four possible reasons he takes long to text you back

Patience is a virtue and you eventually get a response, right? However, waiting for hours or even days on end to hear back from your man can make your head spin with endless questions: ‘Did I say something wrong?’, ‘Is he cheating on me?’, ‘Does he not enjoy chatting with me?’ and so on.

Don’t freak out because there could be one or more reasons, from the list below, as to why a guy may take a while to reach back out to you.

You talk too much

As blunt as this sounds, you may possibly be pushing him away. Studies claim that women talk nearly three times more than men do. That’s right, women say approximately 20,000 words per day, whereas men say around 7,000 words.

Since women have a lot more to say than men do, constantly flooding your man’s inbox with multiple messages may overwhelm him. Perhaps cut back on the amount of texting and see if the frequency of his responses improves over time.

Men aren’t the best at multitasking

Men have a harder time juggling multiple tasks in comparison to women. A 2013 scientific experiment revealed that women outperformed men in the multitasking paradigms set out for the study.

The combination of fewer words and a lesser ability to multitask in comparison to women could make it difficult for your man to be in constant contact with you throughout the day. He may simply have other commitments that he can’t perform while simultaneously keeping up with you over text.

He is busy

As mentioned above, men aren’t the best at multitasking in comparison to women. For this reason, he may simply be too preoccupied with other tasks to be in constant contact with you throughout the day. A little personal space in a relationship actually allows you to miss each other and this distance can help you better cherish the moments you spend together.

On the other hand, if he gives you constant “I was too busy” excuses, you need to communicate your concerns with him because too much distance is not a conducive environment for a healthy relationship.

He’s just not that into you

Men generally love a good chase and when they’re after a woman they truly like, they make it clear as day. He may express his interest through his words and actions, especially in the beginning stages of the relationship.

Despite the fact that men generally have less to say, their actions will, at the least, prove their feelings for you. If he frequently leaves you hanging over long periods of time without explanation, he may simply be disinterested in you. Try to take a step back and see if he reaches out to you.

What ‘old person’ things do you do?
