Woman divides opinions after exposing doctor's 'worrying' pick-up line

An anonymous woman received a message on Instagram from a man who conducted her blood test at the hospital just a few days prior.

It read: "Hey, this might seem a bit odd but I done your blood test the other day at hospital, and I thought you were good looking and seemed nice so here I am shooting my shot."

Shocked by the unexpected message she took to Twitter to say: "Hello HR is that you".

But she probably didn't receive the response she expected as users accused her of putting the man's job at risk.

Despite the fact that the doctor had gone against patient confidentiality rules, many Twitter users thought she overreacted.

Since being posted the tweet has received 75,200 likes and 1,800 comments.

One person said: "I don’t think it’s right but also don’t think it’s worth getting him sacked over. You need to put him straight tho and say you could report him for it and he needs to think about how much he values his job. Guy needs a reality check not complete destruction of his future."

Another added: "Hopefully, a competent HR person will not sack him but will make sure that he understands how wrong this is and monitor things so it doesn't happen again" .

It later received the response: "I'm an HR Manager. To go through a patient's record to get their full name, then track them down on social media to hit on them, especially while referencing his job with the hospital, would absolutely, and rightfully, result in termination".

But a few people agreed the doctor was "creepy".

One said: "His behaviour has crossed multiple boundaries professionally and personally. Don't be gaslit into thinking him possibly losing his job would be your fault - it's entirety on him. All of this is on him for choosing to act this way. He deserves to be reported."

And another added: "It’s not your job to tell him, to teach him anything. And if you complained about him, any action taken by the hospital would not your fault, it would be his. Women are not responsible for men, men are."

A third also agreed: "Too many people take the weight of their complaint on their shoulders. The outcome of his disciplinary action is not the responsibility of the one that files a complaint."

And: "The replies giving the girl stick for this are repulsive. A literal DOCTOR has completely breached data protection and the privacy of his patient to try and fire into her and somehow she’s the one that’s done something wrong??" said a fourth.

Later in the comments the woman said that it was never her intention to "end someone's career", and explained: "It’s just a level of privacy that has been invaded is personally worrying."

After the incident she spoke with the man and assured people on Twitter that he would not be getting fired.

She wrote: "Disclaimer we’ve spoken he’s not getting fired, he knows what he done was wrong."

And later went on to say due to the number of negative comments she received regarding the tweet she decided not to report him.

She added: "If this was your sister or daughter or cousin in my position imagine how you’d feel if they got some of the messages I’ve received."
